Paula (Turner) Jepsen, 88, of Gracey Road, Canton, beloved wife of Henry E. “Bud” Jepsen, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. She was born November 18, 1923 in Simsbury, daughter of the late Olin and Emerett (Bacon) Turner and had lived in Simsbury prior to moving to Canton 75 years ago. Paula was Executive Secretary at Aetna prior to starting her family. She later worked at Friendly’s Restaurants in Simsbury and Avon for many years. She also worked at Dunkin Donuts in Simsbury and Unionville for several more years. She enjoyed the early morning shift and quickly got to know her customers and their usual coffee orders. Camping, trips to the shore, knitting, crocheting, reading, solving word puzzles, plus visits from her grandchildren provided much enjoyment for Paula. She also was a fan of the UConn women’s basketball team and took pleasure in their skills and victories. Paula was a member of Canton Center Congregational Church. Besides her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark H. Jepsen and his wife Pat of Farmington and James O. Jepsen and his wife Jennifer of Avon; daughter, Jill J. Heyne of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandchildren, Kendall M. Hammond, Eric T. Hammond, Minde Jepsen, Mara Heyne, Emma and Tessa Jepsen, and great-grandson Zach Bilts. She was predeceased by her daughter Joanne Hammond, her sister, Nancy Grandfield and brother, Stephen Turner. Wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, you will be greatly missed and will be in our hearts forever. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Thursday, August 30th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. A memorial service will be celebrated Friday, August 31st at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Reverend Dr. Brian C. Hardee officiating. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
