Obituary for Eugene Thomas "Gene" Vincent

Eugene Thomas “Gene” Vincent, 75, of Simsbury, died Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was born January 13, 1939 in Hartford, son of the late Charles W. and Gertrude (Feeley) Vincent and had been a lifelong resident of Simsbury. Gene was a graduate of the Simsbury High School, The New England Institute – Tufts University, Boston, MA and the Interstate Aviation Flight School at Robertson Airport in Plainville and had attended the University of Hartford. Gene also attended the Air Force Technical School “Grunts” at the Alabama Air Force Base and served in the Connecticut Air National Guard having joined at 17. Gene had been a licensed Realtor since 1982 and was a member of the National, Connecticut and Greater Hartford Associations of Realtors. He attended the Realtors Institute where he became a certified Resident Specialist, Senior Appraiser and was a member of the National Residential Sales Council. Previously, Gene was a Co-owner and Operator of the Vincent Funeral Home and was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association. Gene was a FAA licensed pilot, a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and also owned and operated an Air Charter Service which had preformed numerous medical flights, presently known and “Angel Flights”. Gene was a former member of the Simsbury Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus as well as a coach of YMCA Basketball, Simsbury Youth Soccer and the Simsbury Girls Softball League. He leaves behind his daughter Shannon Uanino, her husband Tony and their daughters, Kendra and Melinda of Simsbury; his daughter Kelly Vincent, her fiancé Tim and his son Colby of Hebron; his three brothers, Charles Vincent and his wife Gail of Camden, ME, Glenn Vincent and his wife Carole of Hartland and Richard Vincent and his wife Mary of Canton and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene also leaves many near and dear friends from his years in Real Estate, flying, from being a wonderful father as well as from doing his favorite thing in the whole world, working out at the Big Sky gym. Gene’s family would like to thank the staff at the Simsbury Housing Authority, Masonicare, and the Governor’s House for their amazing care and support over the past few weeks. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Wednesday, March 19th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral will be Thursday, March 20th, 10:15 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Burial will follow in the Simsbury Cemetery.
