Obituary for Lisa Barringer Nichols

Lisa Barringer Nichols
Lisa Barringer Nichols, 53, of Simsbury, CT, died Thursday, August 28, 2014. She was born March 10, 1961 in Durham, NC, daughter of the late David Anderson Nichols and Norma Barringer and had moved to Simsbury 11 years ago. Lisa was a graduate of St. Mary's in Raleigh, NC and had attended VCU in Richmond, VA and then went on to study design in Perugia, Italy. She was a talented Fashion Designer and party planner and was featured in the February 1987 issue of People Magazine for creating the first theme sweaters while at Berek. Being the fashionable person we knew, she was most often seen in cargo pants, a black shirt, ear bobs and red lipstick. Lisa always wanted to live in the world of movies and contributed greatly to The Theater Guild of Simsbury. Lisa AKA Liza, Flash & Sassy Belle filled a room with her bright smile, contagious laughter (and snort) and beautiful spirit. The room was never big enough to hold her personality. She was the nicest, sweetest most caring person you'd ever meet. She was a friend to everyone and you couldn't help but simply love her. She made us all laugh with the things she said such as "boo", "stud", "big baboon", "darlin", "fire", "bite me"', "buckwheat" and her loving name for her daughter Emma "doodlebug". She knew more about movies than anyone on Jeopardy. She was graceful with a touch of clumsiness and loved nothing more than beach music or dancing with her favorite dance partner, Paul. We're all so happy that her recipe for Chicken Tetrazzini will be put to rest with her. She is survived by her beautiful daughter Emma Nichols Hayduk of Simsbury along with Emma's father, Robert Hayduck; her sister, Page Nichols Powell and her husband Jack Powell, III of Atlanta, GA; her brother, David Anderson Nichols and his wife Alice of Southern Pines, NC; her beloved nephew, Stuart Page Sitterson and his fiancée Maureen Ford of Charlottesville, VA and her Connecticut family, Paul and Linda Aparo and their daughters, Karisa and Michaela Egan and the many, many friends and people she touched in the community. She was predeceased by a nephew, Simon Carlyle Sitterson, IV. She will be dearly missed by her two dogs, Zorro and ZuZu. There are no calling hours and services will be held at a later date in Durham, NC. Memorial donations may be made to the Theater Guild of Simsbury, P.O. Box 92, Simsbury, CT 06070. Please visit Lisa’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online condolences.
