Thomas Elliott Nettelbladt
Thomas Elliott Nettelbladt, 77, of Canton, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Amberwoods of Farmington. He was born December 9, 1937 in Worcester, MA, son of golf professional, hall of fame, Harry Nettelbladt and Evelyn (Thombs) Nettelbladt of Avon, CT. He was a graduate of Canton High School, went on to Suffield Academy and then attended the University of Hartford. He lettered both schools in golf. After school he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked in sales and eventually the restaurant business, managing the Black Dog Tavern in Canton. Golf was one of Tommy's biggest passions. His father taught him so well that at one time he was the leading State Amateur in golf. At one time his handicap was plus 2. Tommy won several golf tournaments with his best friend, now a golf professional Skip Rotondo. Tommy also achieved two holes-in-one in his golf career. New England has lost a premier golfer. Tommy, a big happy go lucky guy, leaves behind his loving sister, Sally Rush and his favorite brother-in-law, Bill Rush of Fairfield; his son, Michael Nettelbladt of Farmington; his nephews, Keiran Rush, Brian Rush, David and Alisen Rush, all of Fairfield and Timothy and Dana Rush of South Carolina; two grandsons, Brian Nettelbladt of Bristol and Joey Nettelbladt of Farmington; cousins, Paul and Dary Nettelbladt of Florida, and his significant other Linda Leach of Avon. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Nettelbladt. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Thursday, September 10th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
