Obituary for Alice Beth Fisher

Alice Beth Fisher, 93, of Kimberly Hall in Windsor, beloved wife of the late Walter Edison Fisher, died September 13, 2015. Born June 4, 1922 in Gould, OK, she lived in New Mexico & Texas prior to moving to Connecticut. Beth graduated from Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM, with a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. She worked for the War Department in Washington, D.C. during World War II, & she retired from the Carlsbad, NM school system in 1979, teaching music & elementary education. She enjoyed singing with Sweet Adelines & volunteered many hours at South Plains Hospital in Amarillo, TX & in the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum gift shop in Canyon, TX. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators. She is survived by two daughters & a son-in-law, Marcia Gandy of Orlando, FL & Pam & Jay Sottolano of Tariffville; three grandsons, Dean Hammons & his wife Melissa, Greg Sottolano & his partner Wes Newfarmer, and Jeff Sottolano & his wife Stacey; two granddaughters, Camille Gandy & Christen Sottolano & three great-grandchildren, Andrew & Kelsey Hammons & Savanna Gandy.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, One Intrepid Square, West 46th St. & 12th Ave., New York, NY 10036. Final resting will be held at the convenience of the family in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, TX.
