Mary Golon
Mary (Raskauskas) Golon, 87, of East Granby passed away peacefully on November 12, 2015, at Fresh River Healthcare in East Windsor, after many years of being challenged by the effects of Dementia. Mary was born to Pauline and Sylvester Raskauskas on April 21, 1928 living in Ansonia and later moving to East Granby to start their family farm. Mary was the beloved wife of Frank Golon for 64 years prior to Frank's death in 2012. She is survived by her son James Golon and wife Rachel, John Golon and wife Rosemary, Jean Miller and husband Joe, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graduate of Simsbury High School, Mary worked at Royal Typewriter in Hartford, waitressed in some of the finest restaurants and country clubs in the greater Hartford area, and retired from Hamilton Standard, Windsor Locks. Mary and Frank enjoyed ballroom dancing, summer trips to Block Island, entertaining and swimming in their back yard pool, bingo, trips to the casino, and most importantly spending time with their children and grandchildren. Mary's family would like to thank the staff at Fresh River for their compassion and quality care during Mary's stay. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 16th, 1:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Friends may call prior to the service, starting at 12 noon.
