Ann J. Towle, 87, of Simsbury, passed away peacefully at UConn Medical Center on Monday, November 23, 2015. She was born Mary Ann Jacobs in Kings Mills, Ohio and lived many of her years in Connecticut towns, including Fairfield, Darien, and West Hartford. She was a resident of Simsbury since 2005. Ann graduated from Bridgeport College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She married J. Douglas Towle in 1952 and soon became a loving mother to their three boys. After the boys were raised she enjoyed working at GE Capital and other companies. Ann was an accomplished bridge player, an avid bargain hunter, a dedicated Democrat, and an enthusiastic stock market investor. She was quite involved in raising her granddaughters Laura and Sarah, and enjoyed spoiling them. Ann was predeceased by her husband Doug and youngest son Gordon Towle. Ann is survived by two sons, David Towle of Old Saybrook and Jonathan Towle of New York City, brothers George Jacobs of Maryland and Allen Jacobs of Vermont, and granddaughters Laura Zurell of Columbia, CT and Sarah Towle of Simsbury.
