Obituary for Josephine F. Towle

Josephine F. (Kamp) Towle, age 96 of West Simsbury, CT, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016, after a brief respiratory illness. She left this world just as she had lived in it: cute as a button and surrounded by her loving family. Josephine’s spirit continues in the hearts of many relatives and loved ones, who will carry on her memory in warm hugs, joyful dancing, and shared bottles of Riesling. Josephine was one of three daughters, born in Chicago to the late William and Catherine (Ostenreider) Kamp. Josephine’s family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she met a soft-spoken sailor from Connecticut, Henry G. Towle, and swept him into a more-than 58 year romance. Together, they raised two children in Stratford and Huntington, CT. Josephine was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and an amazing chef. Her greatest passion was sharing in the lives of her children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. She lived a life that revolved around raising her children, playing with her three grandchildren, and doting on Henry. Josephine also worked for the New Haven Railroad for over 20 years. She will be deeply missed by her family and many dear friends, who take solace in knowing that she has been reunited with Henry. Josephine is survived by several relatives: her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Beardsley and Benedict Beardsley of West Simsbury, CT; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Joanne Towle of Kingwood, TX; her three grandchildren, Katie Jo Beardsley, Alec Towle, and Devin Towle; her nephew, Rev. David W. Callies of Brentwood, TN; and several grand-nieces and -nephews. Her services will be held at on Saturday, January 30th the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 224 Lovely Street in Avon, CT. Her wake will start at 11a.m. and her funeral will begin at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Josephine’s memory to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Avon, 224 Lovely St, Avon, CT, 06001.www.stmatthewavon.org.
