Obituary for Gary Bruce Youell

Gary Bruce Youell, 66, of Canton, beloved husband of Patricia (Westphal) Youell, died Saturday, May 14, 2016 at John Dempsey Hospital. He was born March 15, 1950 in Hartford, son of Rachel (Hebert) Youell of Avon and the late Louis Youell, and had lived in Simsbury for many years prior to moving to Canton. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Gary was a Partner and founder of YHB Investment Advisors in West Hartford for over 30 years. He was a successful entrepreneur who mentored many and served on the boards of Tauck, Berlin Steel and other companies for many years. Gary found joy in songwriting and music, and in traveling, having visited 34 countries in his lifetime. Gary led a life of service and was very active in the Mormon Church, including serving as a local Bishop. He was a supportive friend, trusted advisor, admired leader, and devoted family man.
Besides his loving wife of 39 years and his mother, he is survived by his five children: Christie Goldman and her husband Colin of Granby; Sharon Middlebrook and her husband Peter of Dubai, UAE; Amber Youell and her husband Michael Shaw of Basel, Switzerland; Melanie Poulsen and her husband Darin of Manassas, VA; and Jared Youell and his partner Sally Russell of Canton; his 11 grandchildren; his three sisters and their spouses, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, on Friday, May 20,, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
