Obituary for
Wallace G. Lane
Wallace Greenwood Lane, of Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016 aged 95. He was born May 13, 1921 in Woodlawn Heights, New York, son of Wallace G. and Agnes (Taylor) Lane. Wallace was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Yonkers, New York and received two degrees from New York University, School of Engineering. Veteran of World War II, he was a 1st Lieutenant, U. S. Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, 447th bomb group; captured, he was a P.O.W. until April 1945. He was also a member of VA Post 1926. Mr. Lane retired from United Technologies in 1986 and had previously received the company’s George Mead Medal for Engineering Excellence in 1976. He was member of First Church of Christ, Simsbury for 47 years and served as a Deacon and on the Board of Elders. He is survived by his two sons, Wallace G Lane Jr. of New York City and Clifford B. Lane of Simsbury. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Virginia Mitchell Lane and a sister, Mae Elizabeth Lane Dianis. There are no calling hours. A Private service and interment will be in Simsbury Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037.
