Obituary for
Dr. Robert Chamberlain
Robert Davis Chamberlain Jr., MD died peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Born on April 16, 1955, the second oldest of six children. He grew up in Simsbury, CT, attended Fairfield University, and Georgetown Medical School before choosing his specialty of cardiology. Bob was well-known and respected in the medical community. He won several “Excellence in Teaching” awards and trained many medical students and fellows about the importance of getting to know and treat the individual not the disease. He worked for most of his career at Mt. Sinai and St. Francis Hospitals and was the co-founder of Cottage Grove Cardiology in Bloomfield, CT. He touched many lives over the course of his career. Bob retired in June 2013 and although he enjoyed a life of leisure, he felt he had more to give. He moved to Reno, NV to start work at the Reno VA Hospital. In fall 2014, he was diagnosed with ocular melanoma; a very rare and incurable cancer, and started undergoing treatment. Outside of work, Bob’s main passion was his family; especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda; his daughters, Amy and husband Nate Scribner, Kathryn and husband Jake Moore, and son, Nicolas; grandsons, Jack and Ryan, granddaughters, Ella and Quinn. He is also survived by five siblings, Anne, Michael, Andy, Mark, and Rich, along with several in-laws and 18 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Nancy Chamberlain. Family and friends are invited to calling hours at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Wednesday, September 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday September 22nd at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 265 Stratton Brook Road in West Simsbury.
