Thomas McClure
Thomas Joseph McClure, 84, of Canton, beloved husband of Ann (Gibbons) McClure, died Thursday, November 24, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born June 26, 1932 in Pittsfield, MA, son of the late John and Honora (Hughes) McClure and had lived in Canton for the past 57 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. Tom was a graduate of UMass Amherst having received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Tom was a Contract Administrator for Chandler Evans for 40 years prior to his retirement in 2002. He was a member and Director of the Old Newgate Coon Club of Norfolk, the Church of Saint Ann in Avon, the American Legion Dalton, MA, and the Burlington Men’s Club. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, his beloved Cocker Spaniel Molly, and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, especially Big Papi.
Besides his loving wife of 61 years, he is survived by his four children, Michael McClure and his wife Ann of Barkhamsted, Nancy McClure and her partner Joseph Nates of Avon, Susan McClure of Winsted and Thomas McClure and his wife Ann of Duxbury, MA; his twin brother, James McClure and his wife Marion of Dalton, MA; his sisters, Eileen Miraglia, Patricia Hudelston and her husband Kenneth and Nora Quadrozzi and her husband Donald, all of Pittsfield, MA; his four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Catherine, Emily and Matthew and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John McClure.
The family would like to thank the staff of the St Francis CHF unit for their outstanding care during his brief illness.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Tuesday, November 29th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 30th at 10:00 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road in Avon. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
