Obituary for Martin Antiuk

Martin Antiuk, 88, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Rose (Milano) Antiuk, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. He was born March 1, 1928 in Hartford, son of the late Hilary and Mary (Phillips) Antiuk and had lived in Winsted prior to moving to Simsbury 57 years ago. Martin was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Antiuk owned and operated M & R Construction for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Saint Ann in Avon. Martin enjoyed refurbishing farm and large construction equipment as well as tractors, both working on them and attending shows and auctions. He also loved spending time in his vegetable garden.
Besides his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Marcy Antiuk and her husband Harold Robertson of Houston, TX and Roben Antiuk of Broadbrook; his sister, Ann Chapman of Waterford; his brother, George Antiuk of Bethel, VT; his close friend Bill Hyson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several siblings.
There are no calling hours. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 15th at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road in Avon. Burial with military honors will follow in the State Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
