Alison Mary Soderberg, 65, of West Simsbury, beloved wife of Carl Richard Soderberg, died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was born October 17, 1951 in Coventry, England to Stanley William Hallwood and Winifred Parry Hallwood. Alison came to the United States in 1975, living first in Chicago, Illinois where she met her husband Carl racing sailboats on Lake Michigan. She and Carl moved to Connecticut in 1984, where they lived for 20 years before spending nine years overseas in first Singapore followed by Ukraine.
Alison’s life was filled with her love of family, friends, travel, and sailing. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her loving husband of 36 years, Alison is survived by her daughter Eve and her husband Scott Armstrong of Washington, D.C.; her son Nicholas of Albany, NY; her sister Clare and her husband Richard Orr of Chipping Camden, England; and her granddaughter Helen.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, April 25 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 197 Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury. The family suggests that commemorative gifts be made to Tabitha USA.
