Obituary for Thomas Graboski

Thomas Charles Graboski, 72, died peacefully at his home in Simsbury on Saturday, April 29, 2017, surrounded by his family. Tom was born on August 9, 1944, in New Britain, CT, to the late Charles and Mary Graboski. He began his career in drafting, where he discovered a passion for mechanical form and function. He studied engineering, receiving a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from UConn in 1968, and a Masters from Rensselaer Polytechnic in 1973. While working in Ohio, he met his wife, Bonita, whom he married in 1972. Thomas worked at Hamilton Standard and a number of aerospace engineering firms as an independent contractor. He was an avid outdoorsman and fly fisherman, always awake several hours before sunrise during fishing season. He enjoyed working on his own cars, dancing, hiking and taking rides with his wife. He possessed a vivid memory, an irreverent sense of humor, and above all, a sense of duty to his family. Tom is survived by his wife, Bonita; his daughter, Michelle Grady, her husband, Daniel, and their son, Nathan, of Simsbury; his daughter, Ann, of West Hartford; and his son, Michael, of Seattle. In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his brother, Martin Graboski. A mass of remembrance will be held at St. Ann's Church of Avon on Friday, May 5, at 10AM. The family wishes to thank the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association and Pathways Eldercare for caring for Tom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association, 8 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury, CT 06070.
