Edward Morgan Dudley Jr.
Edward Morgan Dudley, Jr., 79, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Patricia Ruth (Idzi) Dudley, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born April 21, 1938 in Baltimore, MD, son of the late Edward Morgan Dudley, Sr. and Evelyn Agnes Bursick Dudley and had lived in Madison, NJ prior to moving to Simsbury 28 years ago. He was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Class of 1960, having received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting and had earned his Masters Degree from Cornell University. Mr. Dudley was the Vice President and General Auditor of ABB (Asea Brown Boveri) in Windsor CT for 19 years prior to his retirement in 2003.
Ed was a member of Simsbury United Methodist Church and had given leadership to just about every committee and group in the church, also the Tower Ridge Country Club and The International Institute of General Auditors having been awarded the Victor Z. Brink Award for distinguished service. Ed loved to golf, spending time at the Hartford Gun Club and had enjoyed building his own computers. Ed especially had a soft spot in his heart for children. Many summers he produced the puppet shows for the Summer Church School.
Besides his loving wife of 57 years, he is survived by his son, David E. Dudley of NJ; his brothers, Robert R. Dudley and his wife Susan and Ronald Smetana and his wife Velma, all of Maryland; his sisters, Susan Ulatowski and her husband Joseph and Frances Hawks and her husband Thomas, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Dudley and a sister, Glenie Dudley.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Tuesday, May 23rd, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, May 24th at the Simsbury United Methodist Church, 799 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery.
