Obituary for Gino Garilli

Gino Andrew Garilli, 79, of Simsbury, born March 20, 1938 - died peacefully at John Dempsey Hospital surrounded by his family on May 24th, 2017. Gino was married to Margie Garilli, his Bride of 55 years. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Paul and Carolina Garilli. He grew up in West Hartford and moved his family to Simsbury in 1966. Gino was a retired Purchasing Supervisor for Kaman Aerospace where he worked for 40 years.

Gino graduated from Hall High School as a member of the honor society and the captain of the soccer team. He was the first member of the family to continue his education after high school and went on to graduate from The College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.

Gino was a lifelong member of Saint Mary's Church in Simsbury. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and family at Hopmeadow Country Club as well as tending to his garden and restoring his 1950 Ford Convertable. He was a dedicated sports fan cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox, Miami Dolphins, UCONN Huskies, and Hartford Whalers. However he most enjoyed watching his family grow and cheering on his grandchildren in their respective accomplishments.

In addition to his wife Margie, Gino is survived by his sister Rosemarie Reidy, her husband Tom of Fairport NY, and their daughter Carla and her husband Pete; his sons, Michael and his wife Austin of Coral Gables, FL, John and his wife Julie of Franklin, MA, and Mark and wife Sheila of Simsbury. He was pre-deceased by his youngest son Matthew who passed away in 1990. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin, Dakota, Sydney, Chase, Nicolas and Quinn, all of whom he adored.

Funeral will be Saturday, May 27th, 9:15 AM from the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to St. Mary's School, P.O. Box 575, Simsbury, CT 06070.
