Jane P. "Janina" Garrett, age 91, of Avon, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 10, 2017. Born in Wyandotte, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Alexandra and Jozef Plona. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her seven brothers and her beloved husband, Clayton Garrett. Jane worked for the Simsbury Bank & Trust and then CIGNA for many years, from which she retired. She loved cooking, sewing, golf and travel. She had a kind and generous spirit. She leaves her daughter, Alexandra Banks, of Torrington and grandson, Benjamin Banks, of Jacksonville, Florida; two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Patricia Garrett of New Hartford, and Wayne and Pamela Garrett of Barkhamsted, as well as three granddaughters, Erinne Markwas, Bethany Monda, and Meghan Garrett, all of Barkhamsted: and three great-grandchildren: Dylan Markwas and Haley and Chloe Monda. Jane was a member of the Canton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. A private burial service will be held at a later date. The Vincent Funeral Home of Canton is caring for the arrangements.
