Obituary for Gordon Keller

Gordon Keller
Gordon T. Keller, 42, of Canton, beloved husband of Alyson (Giles) Keller, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from injuries sustained in a cycling accident. He was born June 17, 1975 in Bristol, beloved son of Paul David and Margaret (Dieckow) Keller of Burlington. Gordon was a graduate of Marrieta College, Class of 1997, having received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine. He was a Digital Solutions Architect for ConnectiCare.

More than anything in the world, Gordon loved being a family man. When in the presence of Gordon and Alyson, all those around could see that they were not only in love, but they were also best friends. Gordon knew how to make Alyson smile (and giggle uncontrollably), and the way that he believed in her helped her to believe in herself. It was his support and love that allowed Alyson to take the leap and start her own flower business. He respected her passion and wanted her to spend her days doing what made her feel happy.

Gordon was also an amazingly loving father who was forever showing his son Riley how to fix countless things around the house, how to cook breakfast, and how to catch a ball. Gordon always encouraged Riley to do his best, and he modeled that for his son each day of his own life. A little over a year ago, Gordon and Alyson were blessed with a little girl. Gordon lit up each evening when reading Lily bedtime stories, and he beamed with happiness hearing her giggles as he pushed her through the house in her very own truck. Gordon truly spent this past year discovering the world all over again through the eyes of his baby girl.

He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing board games, being outdoors, brewing beer, being a trainer, a handyman and the go-to person for tricks and fixes on computers. His friends describe him as someone whose smile could shift the entire day and whose encouragement would inspire life changing results.

Having been a natural athlete, Gordon participated in several triathlons, including the 2011 and 2015 Ironman Lake Placid, 2014 Olympic Age Group Nationals Milwaukee, the 2017 Half Ironman Eagleman Maryland (in which he placed 9th in his age group), and numerous other events throughout the United States. He recently qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Gordon was a true IRONMAN. He was all about excellence, passion, and commitment and he pushed beyond boundaries. He was an amazing coach, competitor, and friend.

Besides his loving wife of 11 years and his parents, he is survived by his children, Riley and Lily Keller of Canton; his three brothers, David Keller and his wife Kristen of Burlington, Hans Keller and his wife Kerri of Pasadena, MD and Peter Keller of Kennesaw, GA; his sister, Karen Moeller and her husband Troy of Maple Plains, MN; his mother-in-law, Virginia Giles; his sister-in-law, Stefany Reardon and husband Jason; sister-in-law Kalliste Giles; his father-in-law, Stanley Giles and his wife Chris; as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Tuesday, June 27th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Burial service will be private. His family kindly asks that flowers not be sent and instead suggest donations to www.gofundme.com/Riley-lilykeller. Please visit Gordon's "Book of Memories" at www.vincentfuneralhome.com
