With great sadness Richard leaves behind his loving, devoted wife of 36 years, Claudia J. Cousins, and their 6 children; Kristina Capeles, Marci Reading, Michael Flaherty, Matthew Cousins, Andrew Richard Cousins, and Allison "Little Precious" Elizabeth Cousins. He also leaves behind his father, Richard Francis Cousins Sr., sisters Noreen Stanulis and JoAnn Cousins, 9 beloved grandchildren, and his goldens, Charles and Bella.

Richard was born in Hartford, CT on March 18th, 1949 to Richard Francis Cousins Sr. and the late Josephine Cousins. He devoted his life to public service; he was a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran, a retired Detective Sergeant with the Bloomfield Police Department, and an Inspector in the Hartford State's Attorney's Office with the CT Division of Criminal Justice.

Richard was an avid reader, history buff, baseball coach, lifelong learner and teacher who always looked forward to his annual fishing trip. Above all, Richard was a loving husband and proud family man. Rest in peace, Dad, you will be missed dearly.

Services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Simsbury at 10am on Saturday, June 24th. All are welcome to attend and come to the Cousins home afterwards to eat lunch, share stories, and visit with family and friends. Donations can be made his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
