Obituary for Lila Hayes

Lila May (Winters) Hayes, 91, of White Oak Lane, Simsbury, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday July 8, 2017. She was born June 20, 1926 in Simsbury, daughter of the late William and Gladys Winters and had been a lifelong resident of Simsbury. Mrs. Hayes was a secretary at Ensign Bickord for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Simsbury United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Circle and had volunteered in the gift shop at McLean for many years. In her younger years, she was very active and loved to cook, knit, swim, sunbathe, exercise and party with the old gang on White Oak Lane.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy Chute-Streeter and her husband Don Streeter of Southington; her cherished granddaughter, Lindsey DiPietro and her husband Jon of Farmington and her beloved great grandson, Jaxson DiPietro. She also leaves behind several close nieces and nephews; Bev Hires and family, George Delconte and family, Robert Delconte and family, Jeff Messenger and family, and Jilda Bidstrup and family. She was predeceased by her first husband, James Humason; her son, Jay Humason; her second husband, Earl Hayes, and her sister, Hilda Delconte.
Lila’s family would like to thank Rosemary Miranda, RN, for the exceptional, loving care she provided for Lila at Apple Rehab of Plainville.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 21st at the Simsbury United Methodist Church.
