Gordon Trask Ives, 25, of West Simsbury, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Dana Point California. He was born on August 18, 1992; son of Robert and Valerie (Cahill) Ives of West Simsbury. Gordon was a graduate of Simsbury High, class of 2010, he continued his education at Tunxis Community College. He Loved to go hiking around Simsbury, be surrounded by family and friends and dreamed of becoming a nurse.
In addition to his parents Robert and Valerie, he is survived by two brothers, Chandler and Spencer Ives, both at home; his paternal grandmother Marilyn Ives of Simsbury; maternal grandmother Dianne Cahill of Wimauma FL; his aunts and uncles, Kenneth and Sandy Ives of Farmington, Bradford and Wendy Ives of Farmington, Lance Cahill of Burke VA, Craig, Jackie Cahill of Tampa Fl, his partner Mike Nardoza, and many cousins and friends. Gordon was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Frederic Ives and his maternal grandfather Robert Cahill.
Gordon lost his long battle with heroin addiction. He had recently completed drug rehab and was residing in a sober living home in CA. These last months he was upbeat and positive, enjoying the California sunshine, and looking forward to living his life. In the end the addiction proved to be more than he could overcome. We will always love you Gordon and will carry your memory with us each and every day.
Family and friends may join the family for calling hours on Monday, October 2nd from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 3rd at Simsbury United Methodist Church, 799 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery.
