Irene S. Dyjak, 86, raised in and lifetime resident of Simsbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton. She was born on February 27, 1931 in Simsbury, CT; a daughter of the late Peter and Odokia (Stankevitz) Sokoloski. Irene retired in 1993 after 35 years of service at Ensign-Bickford Industries. Irene enjoyed quilting, cooking, shopping and most importantly her family. She is survived by her four daughters whom she raised on her own, Deborah Stanhope and her husband Christopher of Simsbury, CT; Joanne Williams and her husband John of West Hartford, CT; Pamela Barzee and her husband Brian of Moodus, CT; and Paula Giles and her husband Joseph of Devon, PA; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Etienne. Irene was predeceased by eight siblings. There are no calling hours and services will be private.
