Obituary for Marie S. Douaihy (Kareh)

Marie S. Douaihy, 89, of Avon, died on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at home surrounded by love. She was born July 24, 1928, in Lebanon. She immigrated to the US with her husband Sarkis and children, Victor and Therese. Marie was a resident of Avon, a communicant of the Church of Saint Ann and a dedicated mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, she had a love of all children and worked at Pooh’s Corner in Avon as “Miss Marie”. Marie was happiest spending time with family, cooking, attending mass and reading. She also enjoyed sharing stories of the beauty of Lebanon and her life there. She was a strong independent woman who could light up a room with her smile; a beautiful person both inside and out.
Marie is survived by six children, Victor Douaihy of Florida, Therese Adams of Avon, Renee Forsander and her husband Karl of Farmington, Joseph Douaihy and his wife Laura of New Hartford, Antoine Douaihy of New York, and Grace Preston of New Hampshire; and ten grandchildren, Danielle, Keith, Rachel, Jason, Evan, Andre, Maria, Anthony, Alexander and Madison.
Relatives and friends may join the family for calling hours on Monday, January 29th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Tpke, Canton, CT. Funeral will be Tuesday, January 30th, 11:00 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery.
