Obituary for Denise Bean (Hidley)

Denise (Hidley) Bean, 78, of Avon, wife of the late Kenneth Forte Bean, died peacefully Monday, February 12, 2018, at The Residence at Brookside in Avon, with her family by her side. She was born on December 24, 1939 in Orange, NJ, daughter of the late Ralph and Irene (Robinson) Hidley and had lived in Avon for over 50 years. Denise was a graduate of Manhattanville College having received her BA in English Literature and went on to earn her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University. Mrs. Bean was a therapist at Bristol Hospital for many years prior to her retirement. She was an active member of the Church of Saint Ann having been a long time CCD teacher and a vocal member of the choir.
Denise was also active in the Avon Jr. Women’s League, League of Women Voters, and the PTO. Her life was filled with the experiences of travel across the world, and a home life of love and grandchildren. She loved swimming, tennis, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, dining out and cooking gourmet meals. She will be remembered for her quick wit, down to earth nature and her ability to always enjoy the moment.
Denise is survived by her children, Eric Bean of Lowell, MA, Jason Bean of Los Angeles, CA, Damon Bean and his wife Kerry of New Hartford and Melissa Ruddy and her husband, Michael of Canton; her grandchildren, Courtney Bilodeau and her husband Jimmy of Billerica Ma, Haley Bean of Littleton, MA, Aspyn and Maeve Bean of New Hartford and Anne and Katherine Ruddy of Canton.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Tuesday, February 20th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 21st at the Church of St. Ann, 289 Arch Road in Avon. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
