Obituary for Karen Buckley

Karen (Briggs) Buckley, age 55, of Simsbury, CT, passed away at home surrounded by family, on April 27, 2018 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Formerly from Longmeadow MA, Karen was a graduate of Longmeadow High School, graduated first in her class from Purdue University, and received her MBA from Babson College. Karen had a 32 year career in telecommunications that began at New England Telephone which ultimately became Verizon.
Karen’s love of life was revealed by the gleam in her eyes, and the smile on her face,
whether traveling with family, walking the dogs, or spending time with her husband Brian and her boys. Many family events were held at the Buckley’s home, where we savored the culinary expertise of Karen and Brian. Karen shared her love of life with all. Her nickname “Foo” came after her animated sharing of a story about Little Bunny Foo Foo. To this day, many family and friends still call her “Foo” with fond memories.
We will miss her strong and loving spirit. Karen was predeceased by her mother, Joan Briggs. She leaves behind her loving husband, Brian, and her devoted sons, Brendan, Colin, and John along with her father Jack Briggs and his wife Gayle, her sister Linda Renault and husband Michael, her sister Cathy Raynor and husband Jonathan, her brother Lyn Grippin, her sister-in-law Kathy McNamara and husband Mike, her brother in law Jay Buckley and wife Neuci, her brother in law David Buckley as well as her beloved nieces and nephews Kristin, Kaitlin, and Matthew Renault, Maeve, Lucy and Kay McNamara, and Joshua Raynor.
