Obituary for Deanna Sapia (Schmitt)

Deanna Sapia, age 81, died peacefully on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Pines at Bristol Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
From her birth in Louisville, KY on January 8, 1937 to her passing on Sunday, Deanna provided her family and friends with a foundation of unconditional love, faith, kindness, optimism and incredible spirit.
Deanna was born to her parents Lawrence and Mildred Schmitt and was the second oldest of four daughters. Deanna enjoyed playing the piano as a child and was the Valedictorian of her high school class. Following high school, Deanna’s professional career consisted of working at the Traveler’s Insurance Corporate office as an Executive Administrator from 1979 through 1998.
In 1959, at the age of 22, Deanna traveled from Louisville, KY to East Hartford, CT to visit her sister Betty. It was there that Deanna met her husband Richard Sapia and after just two short weeks of dating, Deanna and Richard were engaged and then married a few months later, on June 6, 1959 in Hartford, CT. Deanna and Richard had a loving marriage for 53 years until the untimely passing of Richard on February 14, 2012. Deanna and Richard have three loving children, Deborah, James and Julie; and three grandchildren, Nicole, Amanda and Jacob.
Deanna will be remembered by all for her faith in God, her smile, her great sense of humor, her incredible will, spirit, kindness, love for her family, friends and Bob.
Calling hours are from 8:30am-10:30am on Thursday, June 14th at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton, CT followed by an 11:00 am Mass at St Patrick's Church in Collinsville, CT. Burial immediately thereafter at Calvary Cemetery, also located in Collinsville, CT.
