Obituary for Paula C. Schmitt (Clinton)

Paula C. Schmitt (Clinton)
Paula C. Schmitt, born May 20, 1933, passed away peacefully Friday June 8, 2018 at the age of 85. Paula was also affectionately known as: Nanna banana, Nina, Sweet Pea, Q'ee, and Mommala. She is survived by: twin daughters, Kristina Schmitt and Lisa McKenzie, and the baby of the bunch, Melissa Nawrocki and husband Bill; grandchildren: Jonathan Durdan, Harrison Desraviles, Jordan Patterson, Pearse Walsh, Jacob DeFrancesco, Alexa DeFranceso, Joelle Nawrocki, William "Billy" Nawrocki, Jaden Nawrocki; great grandson Parker Desraviles and great granddaughter Ariana Hoops. Paula was pre-deceased by her son Bernard "Bard" A. Schmitt, III, her father Ernest P. Clinton, mother Rose Marie Gallant Clinton, brother Robert Clinton, sister Beverly Flagg and younger brother Paul Clinton. Paula was a kind, gentle and loving soul and was an exemplary mother and grandmother. She found a way of putting you at ease with any conversation, she was also the strictest confidant. Paula had a brilliant sense of humor that was adored by all and will certainly be missed by many. She loved to play bridge with her dear friends in Florida and would host bi-weekly bridge parties. Paula enjoyed painting seascapes and was close to her art teacher and dear friend Maureen Wilkinson. Before having children, Paula was a Flight Attendant for Eastern Airlines and would often tell stories of her worldly experiences. Paula treasured spending time at the beach in Florida and Rhode Island, especially with family surrounding her. She was the nucleolus of the Schmitt family. Somehow, we will need to find the strength to carry out the numerous family traditions without her. There are no calling hours. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 18th, at St. Patrick's Church 50 Church Street in Collinsville. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Collinsville. The Vincent Funeral Home of Canton is caring for the arrangements. Please visit Paula's "Book of Memories" at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online condolences.
