Condolence: My deepest sympathy to the Holtman family and friends. Death was never a part of God's original purpose for mankind. Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us that he "put eternity" within our hearts. Rest assured, his purpose will be carried out. Please read Revelation 21:4. It speaks of a time in the near future when sickness, pain, even death will become things of the past. All things will be made new.

Condolence: I used to babysit for the Holtmans' children and remember the family well. My family also attended Shepherd of the Hills, along with the Holtmans.

Mr. Holtman was a very fine man. Very principled and fair. I always looked up to him and Mrs. Holtman and respected them both very much. They were also a fun couple, very much in love.

My condolences to the family.

To the Family and Friends of Donald Holtman,
I am very sorry for your loss. I was very grieved to learn of Donald’s Death. Though I didn’t know him personally, he was an important part of my support system.
I met Donald in the late sixties when I was a long-haired young hippie looking mother of 3 small children, who drove a Volkswagen minibus and found herself wrongly accused of a hit and run car accident. Shocked and confused about what to do, I called a number of lawyers. Donald was one of them. He was very kind and though didn’t know me, he spent over a half hour outlining my options and letting me know what was likely to happen with each one. I left my conversation with him feeling calmer and clearer. From that moment on, I was a fan.
Through the years, he has been my personal lawyer and has handled my affairs with skill, reason, and most important of all, with integrity. When I think about Donald, integrity is the character strength that first comes to mind, along with honesty, humor, kindness and a quiet charm.
Professionally, when I became a psychotherapist and was working with clients with legal issues I began to refer them to Donald. Before they went to see him, I would say to them: “When you go see Donald, you need to be well rested and take a pad of paper and pencil because he will give you a lot of information.” Without exception, my clients left his office feeling as I did after that first telephone conversation many years earlier… calmer and clearer and with the knowledge and legal support they needed to move forward in a good way.
So though Donald was not part of my personal everyday life, knowing that this very solid, trustworthy man was on the planet made it feel like a better place. Now that he’s no longer here, I keenly feel the loss of him.

With warm regards,
Joan Miller

Condolence: Donald was a good man, doing good things for his fellow men and woman. He was compassionate, yet had a great intellect. He was knowledgeable, intelligent and wise, traits so seldom found together. He was a gentlemen with a high sense of moral purpose and compassion. He is already missed.

Condolence: I will never forget the wonderful sailing trips with Mr. Holtman as Grizzled captain with a cast iron constitution. Whike we were green around the gills on a gray and swell filled day, he was happily sipping Campari on the rocks while watching us with a combination of pity and puzzlement. Or reading a German newspaper at port while listening to classical music.

His intellect was impressive, and his knowledge of the world meant a visit to the Holtman’s, either at 12 Sage Lane on a holiday, or at Pilots Point Marina, or Enroute to Block Island or the north shore of Long Island, woukd always be a learning experience - and a fun one -for this rube.

I am sure that Peter, Stephanie, and Mrs. Holtman can find some comfort in knowing the full life he packed into his 82 years, and in knowing all those whose lives he helped and touched.
