Obituary for JoAnn Sherestanian

JoAnn Sherestanian, 66, of Seymour, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 14, 2018 She was born on August 7, 1951, daughter of the late Martin Sherestanian and Isabelle Bodozian Sherestanian. She was a graduate of Simsbury High School in 1969 and resided in New Hartford for many years, before residing in Seymour. The loves of her life were her twin sons, Mathew Dlugolenski of San Diego, California and Adam Dlugolenski of Seymour and wife Diana (Villegas) and her grandchildren, Ariana, Jasmine and Nicholas. She loved attending the children’s soccer games and recitals. She bragged to friends and family of their great achievements. They brought her such joy. If you knew JoAnn, you knew that her two sons meant the world to her. Every life decision she made, she thought of her sons. When she would speak of them, she would light up. She was so very proud of the men that they had become. She was very active in her church, Walnut Hill Community Church in Derby and would volunteer as a greeter as well as a caregiver in the church daycare. JoAnn leaves behind her cousin Jill Krauth Deane and husband Dan and their five children, Katie, Christie, Spencer, Sullivan and Henry. She loved spending time at their home and especially every summer, at the beach. She loved them very much and would always express her love. She also leaves behind her best friends, Olga Agostini and Pricilla Janssen, who, since 1964, had so many memorable adventures. One of their adventures was driving to Woodstock in 1969 and hitching a ride home. They were “The Big 3” as their classmates would call them and were like sisters to her. They were very important in her life. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Sherestanian and Margaret “Peggy” Sherestanian.

Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, Friday, July 20, 5:00-7:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 7:00 pm. There will be a private burial.
