Obituary for Susan R. Bush (Ruzansky)

Susan R. Bush, 67 years of age, of Canton died peacefully Tuesday, (July 31, 2018), surrounded by her family. Susan was born in Hartford to the late Marvin and Rita (Neporent) Ruzansky.

Susan was a vibrant, energetic member of her family and her community. In her younger years she was active member of Beth Israel Synagogue in West Hartford, CT and in most recent years was a member of Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek in Chester, CT. Susan served for a number of years as the Chairman of the Canton Board of Education and served as Vice President for her family’s company, Capital Candy.

With a degree in Education from Syracuse University and a Masters from the University of St. Joseph, Susan taught in Washington D.C., at Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford and concluded her professional career as a devoted teacher of 20 years in the Granby Public School District, until she retired in June of this year.

Susan leaves her husband of 41 years, Thomas Bush. She also leaves behind her two children, Russell Bush and his wife Jenna of Canton and Lisa Bush and her partner Michael Bragman, Jr. of Brewerton, NY; three grandchildren, Mason, Gianna and Isabella Bush, who she loved and adored.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Rabbi Fliegel will be officiating. The family is sitting Shiva at the home of Russell and Jenna Bush, 96 E. Mountain Rd., Canton, following the service from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Susan can made to the Closer to Free Fund, which jointly supports Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven and Yale Cancer Center.
