Obituary for Deborah J. Matava (Babbitt)

Deborah J. (Babbitt) Matava, 67, of Collinsville, beloved wife of Willi Matava, died suddenly on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at her home. She was born December 13, 1950 in Hartford, daughter of the late Marshall W. and Isabell A. (Rossetti) Babbitt and had lived in Winsted prior to moving to Collinsville 42 years ago. Mrs. Matava was the Branch Manager of Collinsville Savings Society in Collinsville for many years. She was a member of the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for more than 30 years and had enjoyed planning the yearly Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department Jamboree.
Besides her husband of 48 years she is survived by her sons, Willi Matava, II and his wife Donna of Bessemer City, NC and Gregory Matava of Winsted; her sisters, Elizabeth Pugliese and her husband Victor and Mary Babbitt; brother, Marshall Babbitt Jr. and his wife Janet; her grandchildren, Justin K. Matava, Vivien A. Matava, Briana A. Matava, and Landon Matava; a great grandson, Derek Matava; her brother-in-law, Richard Matava and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Tuesday, August 21st from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 22nd, 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 50 Church St., Collinsville. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
