I met Phil in 1975 as a 20 year old while working at the Chart House Restaurant which was next door to his Arts Exclusive art gallery. I enjoyed many long conversations with him in his gallery. He was passionate about so many things in the world and in life. There was an obvious deep genuineness and sincerity that came with his friendship. He was a very interesting man and he made quite an impression on me and my life. His many artist friends were rather interesting people also, when I talked to them in his gallery or when they ate dinner or brunch at the Chart House. Thank you Phil for being a good friend. And especially thank you for all of your thoughts and insights that you shared so freely.

Philip was a true friend to us here in Granby, with his gallery and home, an indefatigable bright light who always reminded us that he loved us...he is missed and I hope we have the grace to care as he did. RIP Philip

The glass was always more than half full with you.
Such enthusiasm. Spoke with you one day and you were gone the next. Sad. Classmates and friends
for many years. You will be missed.

We were so very fortunate to have known Philip for over 25 years - ever since he moved Arts Exclusive Gallery to the former Webster Bank Building on Hopmeadow St approximately 1990. We especially enjoyed Philips dynamic personality and enthusiasm. It was always a treat to browse the magnificent gallery and attend many events held there, including wonderful performances by the Hartford Ballet, as well as wine tastings, educational and social events.

With Philip's encouragement we began collecting artwork and now have many mementos which remind us of Philip every day.

We will forever miss his friendship and enthusiasm.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Philip and his family

He was always a tsunami of upbeat positivity: behind it was an absolute dedication to his gallery, an absolute determination to keep it afloat through thick and thin, and an absolute loyalty and unpossessive attitude toward his artists. Thanks Philip.

So sorry to hear that his beautiful light has been extinguished. He was a lovely man and I very much enjoyed talking about art with him. His enthusiasm was infectious. My best wishes go out to his family. I have thought of him often and will continue to remember him and his contributions to the art world.
