Condolence: I was eighteen years old when I got scholership of American Field Service and was placed in the Johnson's family as a family member. The Johnsons were residing in Rowayton when I arrived in the August of 1966. As a member of the family, Phylis Johnson was my American 'Mom' and Bill Johnson was my American 'Dad'. I lived with the Johnsons for one year, moving houses and sharing their day-to-day life and I must say that the year was one of the most impressionable and terrific year in my life. My stay in America was made particularly memorable for me by Mom Johnson, who made me so comfortable in their house that in a short time I got used to many American ways which were so strange to me so far. With four children in the house, the Johnson household was full of activities which were silently supported by Mom Johnson. Mom showered unconditional love on me during my stay and also afterwords. Mom and Dad Johnson visited me in India twice, once after I was married and again after both my daughter were born. My life would have been different without the unquestioned support and love from Mom Phylis Johnson. I loved her then and I continue to love her now ...
Condolence: I have so many lovely memories of Phyllis (Mrs. Johnson). She was so incredibly talented, grounded and dignified. She was my first introduction to the Midwest, and to the joys of making Christmas cookies. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
