Obituary for Mabel E. Irish (Hammond)

Mabel E. (Hammond) Irish, 90, of Torrington Avenue, Collinsville, wife of the late Raymond R. Irish, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Bristol Hospital. She was born November 26, 1917 in North Monmouth, ME, daughter of the late Henry Hammond and Edna (Pease) Griffin and had lived in Windsor Locks prior to moving to Collinsville in 1941. Mable was married to Raymond in 1940 and enjoyed 58 years with him until his passing in 1999. Mrs. Irish was the Secretary to the Principal for the Canton Board of Education, was a Bank Teller at Collinsville Bank and most recently was the Bookkeeper for Canton VNA. She was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruby Chapter #36, the Cawasa Grange # 34, Officer in the Albert Johnson American Legion Post # 90,
a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Collinsville Fire Department and enjoyed camping. She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Harrington of Camden, ME and Theresa Torre of Enfield and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, George Hammond and Richard and Walter Griffin and a sister, Elizabeth Sprowl. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, Monday, December 10, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home, 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Charles Naugle officiating.
