Obituary for Colleen A. Olson (Humphries)

Colleen A. (Humphries) Olson, 58, of Canton CT, beloved wife of Howard “Gil” Olson, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. Colleen was born October 26, 1955 in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late John and Doris Humphries of Avon, CT. Besides her husband Gil\, she is survived by her two brothers, John Humphries of New Jersey and Greg Humphries and his wife Mary of New Jersey, her sister, Debbie Arsenault and her husband Leo of Windsor, CT, as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She is also survived by her step-sons, Mark Langer of New Hartford, CT and Bobby Langer and his wife Cindy of Barkhamsted, CT; her step-daughter Michelle Turner and her husband George of Burlington, CT, as well as her five step-grandchil dren. Colleen and Gil have been married for 27 years and have lived in Canton for all their years together. Colleen enjoyed her home with Gil, it was her pride and joy. She loved to spend endless hours nurturing her beautiful gardens. She was an animal lover and delighted in feeding their outdoor friends. Colleen seemed to enjoy hard work and was always there to lend a helping hand to others, no matter what the job. Colleen and Gil worked hard around their house and for anyone who needed them, but they also loved their special getaways to Kauai every year. Colleen was an outgoing, zealous and fun-loving person whose presence and spirited conversation always filled the room. Her tough nature, endless energy and strength was only rivaled by her deep sensitivity and care for her family. She will be missed by all that knew her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 9th floor ICU at Hartford Hospital and Canton Ambulance for their care.
