Obituary for Richard Arthur Olson

Richard Arthur Olson, 87, of Canton, beloved husband of Rosemarie (Barlow) Olson, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. He was born January 7, 1927 in Canton, son of the late Arthur W. and Tirzah (Sisson) Olson and had lived Canton his entire life. Richard was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Olson was a farmer, plumber and electrician for many years prior to his retirement. Richard was a member of Cawasa Grange, the Rough and Tumble Threshermens' Club, the Farmington Valley Mens' Club, the Wigwam, the Horseless Carriage Club of America and was proud to be a Mason for over 50 years. He was an antique car and tractor enthusiast. He enjoyed going to tractor meets and antique car restoration. Richard also cherished time with his family, farming and enjoying coffee with friends. Besides his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by his three sons, Richard Olson and his wife Patricia of Newington, Timothy Olson of Canton and William Olson and his wife Lynne of Canton; his sister, Jane Bristol of Vermont; his grandchildren, Jessica Druckenmiller, Kaitlin Olson, Elizabeth Olson, Eric Olson, Whitney Olson and Taylor Olson; his great grandchildren, Max and Ella Druckenmiller; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mickey and Cathy Barlow and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Wednesday, October 1st beginning at 4:00 PM closing with a Masonic Service at 8:00 PM. Graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, October 2nd, 10:00 AM at Dyer Cemetery in Canton.
