Obituary for
Ann Bland Edmiston Nangle
Ann Bland Edmiston Nangle, 85, of Simsbury, died Saturday, January 17, 2015, at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington after a short illness. She was born December 8, 1929, in Weston, West Virginia, daughter of the late Andrew and Alice Merle (Williams) Edmiston, and had lived in Newburyport and Hamilton, MA for many years prior to moving to Simsbury eight years ago. She graduated from Cornell University Class of 1952 where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in English. Mrs. Nangle was a member of the League of Women Voters in Hamilton, MA, and enjoyed traveling abroad, reading and socializing. She co-owned “The Anchorage” consignment store in Newburyport, MA, for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Nangle Scott and her husband Hilliard John Scott of Simsbury; three sons, John B. Nangle of Amesbury, MA, Clinton E. “Gene” Nangle of Newburyport, MA, and Theodric E. “Rod” Nangle and his wife Elizabeth Walker Nangle of Wellesley Hills, MA; and three grandchildren, Sam A. Scott of Simsbury, and Jacob A. and Joshua M. Nangle, both of Wellesley Hills, MA. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service celebrating Ann’s life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 3PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Church Street, Tariffville, CT. Another Memorial Service will be held for her in the Spring in Newburyport, MA, with a final Memorial Service held in her hometown of Weston, West Virginia, in early July. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (“JDRF”).
