Lincoln Smith Young of New Hartford died peacefully on April 4, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born November 29, 1934 in Hartford, to the late Lincoln Ruckley Young and the late Sybil Smith Young, he resided in the greater Hartford area for most of his life. His wife, the late Pauline Allen Young, also predeceased him.

He attended the Beach Park School in West Hartford, the Kingswood School and graduated from Taft School. He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He was a commercial banker for many years with the Irving Trust Company in New York, the Hartford National Bank & Trust Company, and the Simsbury Bank & Trust Company where he was Senior Vice President, Secretary and Senior Lending Officer for over 15 years. In 1985 he became President and Treasurer of Turbine Engine Services of Windsor Locks, retiring in 1995.

Active in community affairs, in recent years he served locally as Board Chairman, Director and Secretary of the Simsbury Bank, President of the New England Air Museum, President of the Hartford Canoe Club, President of the New Hartford Memorial Library, Director of the New Hartford Land Trust and was a member of the New Hartford Board of Finance. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gentleman farmer and a member of the East Haddam Fishing & Game Club and the Kingdom Game Club in New Hartford.

He also served as Director of the Virginia Dare Extract Company of Brooklyn, New York and as an Associate Trustee of Ohio Wesleyan University. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society.

He leaves four children - Katherine S. Young of Tampa, FL, Lincoln C. Young of New Hartford, Cassandra T. Matt of Richmond, VA and Stephanie T. Brewer of Houston, TX. Four grandsons - Lincoln Cummiskey Young, Derek A. Matt, Joseph L. Matt, Nicolas Arnold and Samuel N. Brewer. Two sisters - Eleanor Y. Lord of Great Barrington, MA and Carolyn J. Young of Oakland, CA. Cousin - Howard Smith and family, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his dear and devoted friend of recent years, Astrid Tury of Canton.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service, which will be held at the First Congregational Church of Litchfield, 21 Torrington Rd, Litchfield, CT on Saturday, July 25th at 10am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the New England Air Museum ( 36 Perimeter Rd, Windsor Locks, CT 06096), or to the New Hartford Memorial Library now known as The Licia and Mason Beekley Community Library(P.O Box 247, New Hartford, CT).
