Obituary for Daniel W. Fleming

Daniel W. Fleming of Simsbury, age 66, beloved husband of Christine (Smith) Fleming, died Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Manchester, NH, son of Thomas and Jeannette (Grandmont) Fleming. He lived in New Hampshire and California prior to moving to Simsbury 33 years ago. He was a graduate of The University of New Hampshire having received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Fleming worked in the insurance industry for 42 years and was an Underwriting Director in Bond and Financial Products at the Traveler’s Insurance Company for 13 years prior to his retirement in 2015. Dan enjoyed golfing, hiking, kayaking and travel, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
Besides his loving wife of 42 years and his parents Thomas and Jeannette Fleming of Manchester, NH, he is survived by his son, Patrick Fleming and his wife Yelena of Watertown, MA; his daughter, Jennifer Rodgers and her husband Lee of Guilford, CT; his brother, Thomas J. Fleming, Jr. and his wife Janice of Manchester, NH; his sisters, Carol Salls and her husband Herb of East Kingston, NH and Kathleen Dolphin and her husband Michael of Manchester, NH; his grandchildren, Georgia and Daniel Fleming and Claire and Owen Rodgers and several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Frances Fleming.

There are no calling hours. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 11th at St. Mary’s Church 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial will be private.
