Obituary for Howard W. Wilcox

Howard W. Wilcox, 76, of New Hartford, beloved husband of Merle (MacCallum) Wilcox, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home. He was born August 3, 1939 in Avon, the son of the late Harry Daniel Wilcox, Sr. and Melvina (Griffin) Wilcox and had lived in Avon prior to moving to New Hartford 36 years ago. Howard served in the U. S. Army and was recalled to 10 months of active duty during the Berlin Crisis. Howard was a carpenter for many years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, hunting, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, listening to country music and especially spending time with his granddaughters.
In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, he is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Pierce and her husband John of New Hartford; his son, Kevin Wilcox and his wife Kasia of Bloomfield; his two granddaughters, Emma and Meghan Pierce of New Hartford; his seven siblings, Daniel Wilcox and wife Louise, Caraline Knust, David Wilcox and Joy Auchwald, Sidney Wilcox and his wife Bonnie, Sylvia Dixon and her husband Tony, Harry Wilcox Jr and his wife Lee, Judy Sherman and many nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 16th, at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Burial will be private.
