Obituary for Beverly Luff

Beverly Ann (Zane) Luff, age 79, passed away the morning of January 17, 2017 due to advanced Alzheimer’s. Beverly was born February 20, 1937 in Wyoming, PA. Shortly thereafter the family relocated to Granby and then to Simsbury. Beverly graduated from Simsbury High School, where she excelled in basketball, field hockey and tennis. Beverly met the love of her life, Robert, at a mutual friend’s wedding and they were married September 1962. They lived at Lake Manitook in Granby where they were blessed with their two children. Rob and Bev moved to Simsbury to be closer to her aging parents, John and Frances Zane. Beverly enjoyed many hobbies, raising animals, gardening, tennis, traveling and baking her famous Christmas cookies. Beverly is survived by her loving husband Robert A. Luff, of Simsbury, their daughter Loretta Carbone and her two children Sophia and Ava Carbone of Dover, MA., their son Robert J. Luff and his wife Diane and their son Robert D. Luff of Simsbury, her sister, Joy Zane and her partner Gregory Schade of Huntington Beach, CA.
Calling hours will be Sunday January 29, 2017 from 1-3 pm at 43 Great Pond Road, their family home. We look forward to sharing memories with family and friends at that time. Join us for a celebration of Beverly’s life. A private burial is planned for the spring. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 200 Executive Blvd., Ste 4B, Southington, CT 06489. Beverly showed us all how to gracefully navigate through this dreadful illness and we’re all blessed to have been able to spend this time with her.
