Obituary for Sharon F. Lizak

Sharon F. (Sullivan) Lizak, 64, of Tariffville, beloved wife of 40 years of Paul F. Lizak, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Yale New Haven Hospital. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her son, Paul F. Lizak II of Middletown. She was predeceased by her infant son, Quillan F. Lizak.

Sharon was born July 12, 1952, in Agentia, Newfoundland, daughter of the late Daniel P. and Edith E. (Kelly) Sullivan. She lived in Mystic prior to moving to Tariffville 37 years ago. A member of the Stonington High School class of 1970, Sharon earned an associate degree from Manchester Community College in 1972 and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut in 1983. She worked as a paralegal, most recently at The Hartford for several years, preceding her retirement. Sharon was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Simsbury, the Farmington Valley Quilters Guild, the Simsbury Library Book Group, the Simsbury Camera Club and the Irish American Home Society in Glastonbury. Beyond interests including quilting, sewing and photography, Sharon also adored cats and bird watching.

In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by her brother, Daniel Sullivan of Vernon and his special friend, Barbara Yard of Manchester; her sisters, Barbara Walsh and her husband Dennis, and Jane Crogle and her husband Alan, all of Mystic; her nieces and nephews, Tara Sullivan of East Hartford, Kathleen Kuczma and her husband Kevin of New Fairfield, Shannon Sullivan of Vernon, Michael Dyer of Honolulu, HI, Seamus Walsh and his wife Melissa of Voorheesville, NY, and William Crogle of Mystic; and her great nephews and niece, Chris Rich; Brendan, Kieran, Connor and Aidan Kuczma; Lauren Botkin, and Camden Walsh.

Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury on Friday, February 3rd, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 4th at St. Mary’s Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Tariffville.
