Obituary for A. Donald Peterson

A. Donald Peterson, 86, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Sylvia (Basile) Peterson, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side. He was born October 3, 1930 in Cloquet, MN, son of the late Arthur G. and Gerda (Rosendahl) Peterson. Don grew up in Wethersfield and lived in Bloomfield prior to moving to Simsbury 46 years ago. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from Hillyer College. Don was employed by IBM as a Systems Engineer and as a realtor for a number of years prior to his retirement. Don was an active, long-time member of the Simsbury Lions Club and served as president. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid gardener, loved his dogs, treasured family gatherings and summers spent in Cape Cod. His Swedish heritage was a great source of pride.

Besides his loving wife of 58 years, he is survived by his three children, Lea Peterson Bruch and her husband Dr. Fred Bruch of Keene, NH; Krista Peterson Snow and her husband Thomas L. Snow, III of Simsbury and Gary Peterson and his wife Susan Bonaceto of Simsbury; his grandchildren, Jennifer Hayes, William Hayes, Thomas L. Snow IV and his wife Jennifer, Andrew Snow, Charles Bruch and Dr. Meredith Morgan and her husband Quinn; his great grandson, Thomas L. Snow V and many nieces , nephews and cousins. He leaves his sister-in-law Lucia Peterson. He was predeceased by his brother, Dale G. Peterson and his sister, Arlene Glock. Don also leaves Theo, his faithful rescue Bassadore, who was a constant companion.

There are no calling hours. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 21st at 12:30pm at the Simsbury Cemetery, 16 Plank Hill Road, Simsbury.
