Obituary for George Caron

George Louis Caron, 95, of Avon, beloved husband of Lois Mae (Lynch) Caron, died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at his home with family at his side. He was born January 22, 1922 in Connor, ME, son of the late George and Annie (Dubay) Caron and had lived in Caribou, ME prior to moving to Collinsville 77 years ago. George was a veteran and Iwo Jima Survivor of World War II, having served in the U. S. Marine Corps., being honorably discharged as Corporal with a Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Caron was a Supervisor for the F-16, F100 Fuel Control production at Chandler Evans for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, the Gildo Consolini VFW post #3272 of Avon, a member and past Commander of the Albert Johnson American Legion Post #90 in Collinsville, was a volunteer with the Collinsville Fire/Police Unit, a member of Mended Hearts and was a life member of the Order of Vasa. George was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing pool and for the past 50 years, participated in the Collinsville Memorial Day Parade. George was one of the founding members of the National Iwo Jima Memorial in New Britain, CT led by Dr. George Gentile.
Besides his loving wife of 70 years, he is survived by five sisters, Corinna Chamberlain, Dorothy Dlubac, Doris Desjardin, Marie Dunleavy and Jeannette Granger and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gilman, Aubrey, Paul, Richard, Herman, Milton and Donald and two sisters, Lorina Milton and Irene Kaczynski.
Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton, on Monday, August 14th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 15th, at Valley Community Baptist Church, 590 West Avon Road in Avon. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
