Obituary for Mark Hopkins

Mark Wallace Hopkins, 60, of West Simsbury, died Wednesday (February 28, 2018) after complications following cancer surgery. Mark lived in Simsbury for most of his life. After graduating from Kimball Union Academy, Mark returned to the Greater Hartford area where he met and married his wife Janice (Gilbert) Hopkins, to whom he was married for 20 years before she died in 2003. He spent his entire career as a passionate marketing consultant, devoting most of his work to Legrand North America, formerly Wiremold. He loved his family more than anything and reveled in cooking and entertaining for those most dear to him. An avid outdoorsman and adventurer, he enjoyed spending his time camping, fishing, hunting in Vermont, and boating; always happiest near the water. Mark was predeceased by his wife Janice, his daughter Paige, his mother and father Mildred and James Hopkins, and his brother Brett Hopkins. He is survived by his devoted daughters, their husbands, and his grandchildren - Darcy, Chris, Grace, and Parker Mauke; Cori and Andrew Lunnen; Erin, Lily, and Keira Hopkins, and Eric Schmitt. He is also survived by his sister Kim Hennig; his brother and sister-in-law Craig and Monica Hopkins; his mother-in-law Dorothee Gilbert; and many loving cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. There will be no calling hours or funeral.
A celebration of life will be held this weekend on Saturday, March 3rd from 1-4pm at the Maple Tree Café, 781 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Healing Meals Community Project, a local charity that supports families coping with a health crisis such as a loved one undergoing cancer treatment.
