Rolf H. Bjork, 81, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Nicola (née Rogers) Bjork, died peacefully on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born April 11, 1937 in Gothenburg, Sweden, son of the late Bror Anton Konrad and Sigrid (née Pettersen) Bjork and had lived in Montreal, Canada for 5 years prior to moving to Simsbury in 1983. Rolf was a graduate of the Gothenburg Technical Institute (B.Sc.) and Chalmers University of Technology, Class of 1968, where he received his Master’s degree in Science/Nuclear Engineering. Mr. Bjork was Director of International Sales for Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection & Insurance Co. for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the CT River Valley BMW Riders, rode and enjoyed his 6 Italian motorcycles, enjoyed international travel and keeping in touch with friends and family.
Besides his wife Nicola, he is survived by his daughter, Petra and her husband Anders Backelin; grandchildren, Nestor Bjork-Almqvist and Patrick Cheek; and his cousin, Birgitta Hagberg. He was predeceased by his elder daughter Marie.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 26th at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury.
