Obituary for Ole Ronning

Ole Ronning
Ole Ronning, 71, of Simsbury, husband of the late Jacqueline Ann (Valeri) Ronning, died Saturday, May 26, 2018 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. He was born October 19, 1946 in England, son of the late Jorgen and Beatrice Ronning and had lived in Plantsville prior to moving to Simsbury to raise his family over 40 years ago. Ole was a veteran of the Vietnam War as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. A decorated hero, he earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and other military commendations. At the time of his passing, he served as the Culinary Coordinator for Community Mental Health Affiliates where he was endeared by his co-workers and clients. Ole enjoyed cooking, traveling to Rhode Island and Cape Cod, supporting Colgate University Soccer and the New York Giants. He was delighted by a savory, well cooked meal and could be counted on to recommend the best places to dine. A loving & supportive father and grandfather, Ole especially enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren.

He is survived by his three sons, Michael Ronning and his wife Jennifer of Fairfield, Erik Ronning and his wife Amber of Hamilton, NY and Jared Ronning of Simsbury; five grandchildren, Alyvia, Sophie, Betsy, Teddy and Ethan Ronning; two sisters, Sybil Flaten and Ingjerd Hoddevik; sisters-in-law, Donna Mishico and Nancy Furniss and many other loving relatives.

There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 5th at 10:00 AM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery. Please visit Ole's “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online tributes and condolences.
