Obituary for Robert Philip Blanc

Robert Philip Blanc, 64, of Granby, Connecticut, beloved husband and best friend of Gail (Benton) Blanc, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born June 7, 1954 in Mount Vernon, NY, son of the late Philip Rene and Barbara (Nickel) Blanc and grew up in Scarsdale, NY prior to moving to Connecticut to attend college. Bob graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor’s Degree in business and a Master’s Degree in finance, and had a long career in sales and finance. He was a fan of all sports, especially UConn Basketball and the NY Knicks. Bob enjoyed a good spirited political debate (particularly if you shared his views!), Caribbean vacations and above all he adored his family, countless friends, and his beloved dogs.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter, Laura (Blanc) Hanson and her husband Adam of Rhode Island; his brothers, Paul Blanc of Kentucky, Bruce Blanc and his wife Patricia of Massachusetts, and his dear first wife, Mary Ann (Heitz) Blanc of Connecticut. Bob is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces & nephews, extended family and close friends.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 24 from 6-9 p.m. at Brignole Vineyards, 103 Hartford Ave., East Granby, CT 06026. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Please visit Bob’s “Book of Memories” at www.vincentfuneralhome.com for online condolences.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the skilled medical staff who cared for Bob during the last few weeks; and our heartfelt gratitude to Alan Lazowski, the entire LAZ family, and countless friends for their love and support.
