Obituary for Margaret W. Albert

Margaret “Peg” (Wallace) Albert, 89, of Simsbury, wife of the late William Albert, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Hartford Hospital. She was born October 6, 1928, in Trenton, NJ, daughter of the late James Wallace, Sr. and Margaret (Mongan) Wallace and had lived in Norwich prior to moving to Simsbury over 50 years ago. She attended Rider College in Mercer county, New Jersey . Mrs. Albert was the Bookkeeper for the Avon Veterinary Clinic in Avon for 30 years. She was an active member of the local and state Republican party. She was the Vice Chairperson of the Norwich Republican Town Committee, Chairperson of the Simsbury Republican Town Committee, a member of the Republican State Central Committee and a delegate to the National Republican Conventions of Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. In June of 1987, Margaret was awarded recognition of her outstanding and dedicated service as the Chairman of the Simsbury Republican Town Committee and was honored with the Emeritus Certification for Outstanding Service in the Simsbury community and the the Republican Women's Club on April 29, 2017. She had a passion for traveling, cooking, entertaining and humor.

She is survived by her children, Lynne Albert and her husband Daniel Barth of Boulder, CO, Lee Albert and her husband David Vaughan of Middletown, Roger Albert and his wife Dori of Bloomfield and Janet Albert of Washington, DC; her grandchildren, Megan Vaughan-Albert and her husband Cody Coltharp of Springfield, VA, Michael Vaughan-Albert of Middletown and Jonathan M. Albert of Washington, DC and her great granddaughter, Lydia Coltharp of Springfield, VA. She was predeceased by her brother, James Walllace, Jr.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, August 12th at 3:00 PM at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial will be private.
